W F Hadley of San Francisco charges that a breach of promise suit brought in Auburn Maine against his wife is a political maneuver to injure Congressman Dingley. He says Mrs Hadley will return to Maine to appeal and carry the case to the Supreme Court.
The Martin Thorn trial, initially set for Monday, was postponed to November 8 after Thorn's lawyers filed affidavits claiming Guldensuppe was seen in Germany. The postponement allows time to present evidence corroborating the sighting.
In Indianapolis on Oct 14 a wild riot by newsboys broke out downtown for about an hour. Hundreds of youths in factions fought in Newsley Lane areas and near the Park Theatre. Police dispersed groups, capturing leaders as injuries mounted including broken heads and limbs.

Huntington, Pa October 14 A thwarted attempt to wreck a St Louis express near Newton Hamilton ended with the arrest of Frank Noe of Brooklyn New York who had lodged obstructions on both east and west bound tracks. Police captured him near the scene. others may be involved. Noe has prior penitentiary time.
An affidavit to Judge Parish claims the Ewer v Darwin verdict was reached after a jury compromise by a seven up game between Juror Kennedy and Juror Collier. The vote before the game stood 11 for the plaintiff and one for the defendant, Kennedy leading the defense. Collier won, and Warner asserts the verdict was then returned for the plaintiff.
Delta California October 14 William Harold and under sheriff Radford were shot and killed and Deputy Stewart wounded during a failed arrest of Havok linked to the September 26 Yreka Fort Jones stage robbery. Wells Fargo detectives Thacker and Jennings arranged the exchange. Harold killed Radford and Stewart. Harold died soon after.
Savannah reports nine desperate prisoners escaped from Glynn county jail at midnight. Bloodhounds led the hunt within 30 minutes, followed by mounted officers and armed citizens. By 1 AM the streets were strewn with searchers as the trail remained hot and details unclear.

In Superior criminal court in Boston, Nettie Fleming faces charges of receiving stolen money tied to $700 in Benton’s wallet. Benton testified he lost $3000 after a woman grabbed his wallet on Porter Street and fled into a cellar. police arrested a suspect, and the case may not finish until this afternoon.
The funeral for Catherine V. Tierney proceeded from St Patrick's Church at 10 AM with Re v Fr Burke celebrating the requiem mass and Mr M J Johnson at the organ. The service included De Profundis and songs by Miss Finn and Mr James B Donnelly. Tierney, born in Boston, moved to Lowell young, educated at Colburn School, worked at A G Pollard Co and later New York Cloak and Suit Co. Bearers named. Rev Fr Walsh conducted the burial at St Patrick's Cemetery with Undertaker McDermott handling arrangements.
Jeremiah J. Walsh aged 4 years 8 months died at 1 LaGrange Street yesterday afternoon. Michael Sayers, former city resident, died at his Waltham home on Wednesday. Funeral from Middlesex Street station at 12 o clock noon today.
