Chicago Oct 11 City Marshal William Burke of Antioch was shot and killed by Deputy State Game Warden William Kelly while duck hunting on Grass Lake. Overcome by his act Kelly attempted suicide afterward.
A great gold strike is reported near Revenue Tunnel on Mount Sneffel in Colorado. Tests run as high as $200,000 a ton, with one thousand dollars taken from two cubic feet of rock. Local optimism runs high as prospectors swarm the area awaiting official tests and claims.

About 800 delegates from many towns are expected. delegates depart Lowell October 12 at 16 train for Boston and will collect credentials at the station.
Harvey Pratt son of Mr and Mrs Frederick A Pratt of London Street Whet was fatally burned when he fell into a bonfire Friday evening He died the following night The funeral was held yesterday and burial took place in the Catholic cemetery
A large crowd joined a procession honoring Fr Mathew's birthday with Fr Scully's Temperance Cadets and delegations from Massachusetts abstinence groups. The event featured a 30 piece Boston City band, a lunch for cadets, and festive decorations along the parade route culminating in a concert at City Hall square.

In the Superior civil court session before Judge Lilley, no cases were ready for trial this morning and an adjournment was ordered until Tuesday morning.
