Portland Maine May 28 Three post office burglaries were reported this morning. Little was taken at two, but over a thousand dollars was secured at Andover. The post office building there was wrecked. The other burglaries were at Cumberland Mills and Woodford's.
The city fire department committee at city hall, led by Alderman Mc Cluskey, recommends three days a month off for permanent men plus two weeks vacation, with discretionary extra leaves by the chief. The plan leaves two days currently and adds seven to eight total absences, while seeking two more firefighters for Hose 8 and Hose 11 at a $1000 year-end cost.

Brattleboro Vermont May 28 Will Stearns a 45 year old casemaker hanged himself yesterday afternoon with a wire clothes line in the attic of his home after a year of progressive muscular atrophy and despondency. He leaves a wife and one daughter Mrs Stearns was in Grafton at the time attending the funeral of Mr Stearns sister.

He is described as a young man of property and good connections.
