Death of Mrs Hodgman From Hydrophobia In Lowell
Mrs Josephine T Hodgman wife of Frederick L Hodgman died at her home on Whipple Street after a severe hydrophobia case traced to a dog bite. Her father George W Tilton also bitten. Both treated at the Pasteur Institute in New York and returned recently. Dr Guy Holbrook and Dr Bass diagnosed hydrophobia and managed convulsions and pain. Four men held her during fits as she spoke reassuringly. Recovery seemed possible earlier but symptoms persisted until death at 5 45 this morning.
