Money deposited in the Savings Department of the Traders National Bank at 30 Middlesex street and 11 Post Office avenue before 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, will draw interest at 4 percent per annum from June 1. Interest may be withdrawn or added to the principal on July and January 1. Bank open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. William F. Hills, Cashier.
Associated Press report on H. H. Holmes's execution in Philadelphia. Holmes was hanged at 10:12 a.m. after a final speech denying most murders. The drop broke his neck. consciousness ceased instantly, with a brief pulsation and hanging body for about 20 minutes. He spent the last night writing letters and breakfasting before the scaffold.
Indiana Republicans at Indianapolis May 7 declare for honest wages protection and reciprocity, favor honest money and proper parity for silver, oppose free coinage, and instruct delegates to support William McKinley while his name is before the convention. Ex-President Harrison was expected to speak as delegates debated the platform and its immigration and currency provisions.
A Minneapolis source reports R. D. Hubbard leading a new alliance of millers with the Pillsburys to raise flour prices and secure favorable transport rates. About 500 spring wheat millers exist, with roughly 100 already joining the effort.
Milwaukee Wis May 7 The Common Council met in special session and named five aldermen to join merchants and manufacturers committees with striking street railway workers to resolve the dispute The council votes to vacate the franchise unless the question is submitted to arbitration Police acknowledge the situation is serious for the first time since the strike.
The city of Southampton reports that the U S cruiser Minneapolis arrived this morning while bound from the Mediterranean to Cronstadt. She will sail this afternoon to represent the United States at the czar’s coronation.
Fire at Moysey's stable in Elmira Ohio last night destroyed the stable and several nearby frame buildings including small stores and the Salvation Army bar racks. Estimated loss is $80,000 and authorities believe the fire was set by tramps.
Cincinnati May 7 Rev E D Morris who led Lane Theological seminary for 29 years has been succeeded by Harry Goodwin Smith of Freehold New York. Morris resigned a year ago but a suitable successor could not be found.
In Wellfleet on May 7 a northeast gale wrecked the Newport Rhode Island schooner Daniel B. Fearing. The vessel is a total loss and its rigging and coal cargo were scattered for miles along the shore.
In St Louis this morning a fire swept through the Nelson Morris & Co fertilizer building and beef packing plant, along with ice houses and cattle pens in East St Louis. Loss estimated at 30000 dollars. Debris and flames caused extensive damage to both sites. No injuries reported.
A blaze at the Heidelberg University Riding School in Germany on May 7 suffocated four people and killed 27 horses, with authorities investigating the cause as smoke and fire spread rapidly through stables.

Indianapolis May 6 The convention crowds and caucusing show a strong push to instruct for McKinley with sound money on the platform no silver fight. Ex-US Marshal Randall says Harrison will accept a nomination if pressed, though he won’t seek it. Harrison to address tomorrow but undecided on stance. Delegates jammed, governor race crowded with 12 candidates, others expect heavy campaigning and internal mobilization.
McKinley supporters dominate the California Republican state convention as the platform endorses him for president and urges delegates to secure his nomination. The body adopts a 16 to 1 silver-to-gold standard and calls for non sectarian free public school funding. Delegates at large include John M. Spreckels and U S Grant Jr.

In Hamilton New York on May 7 David Smith a retired missionary died by his own hand this morning authorities report his death by hanging. He had long served in religious missions and his passing follows a period of illness and solitude at his residence. The community mourns the loss of a long time church figure and educator.
Mrs Sarah Stevenson of South Boston formerly Miss Sarah Hart dies at home aged 382 years Mrs Henrietta Kaffenburgh of Albany NY dies aged 78 years 10 months at son in law B Lederers residence in Albany after paralytic shock. Survived by two sons I Kaffenburgh and Philip Kaffenburgh two daughters Mrs Fannie Sprigel and Mrs Betsie Lederer. Her husband Jacob Kaffenburgh died 16 years ago.
Little Frank Berard, son of Frank and Mary Berard, drowned this morning near 10 Middlesex Place. He was playing with a girl near lumber piles in Davis & Sargent's yard when he fell into the Middlesex canal. The child’s mother alerted the family and the father joined in the search. by 2 pm no body had been recovered.
