In Boston on Monday evening the Uni ty church parlor overflowed with about 150 members and friends for a social honoring Rev Minot J Savage and Mrs Savage. Also Monday night the G A R club of Massachusetts held a gathering at the United States hotel in Boston. Fall River voters approved a petition to seek a 200000 loan to improve city streets this year. A deadly fire damaged the Hoosac Valley hotel at Cheshire and Frank Welch died trying to save books. Annie Cronin, 20, of Worcester Thread, is dying after an accident in the picker room, her scalp torn from her head.
Money deposited in the Savings Department of Traders National Bank at 30 Middlesex Street and 11 Post Office Avenue before 4 p m Wednesday June 2 will draw interest at 4 percent per annum from June 1. Nashua New Hampshire residents awoke to gunfire as police chased three burglars who robbed Arthur Gauthier’s carpenter shop for tools, Clark’s grocery for $12, and Parker’s laundry for $25. Patrolmen Garside and Battles pursued on foot along the Boston and Maine tracks, but the suspects escaped into the woods. No injuries reported.
A gasoline stove explosion in a Brooklyn tenement owned by Mrs Cohen during morning cooking killed four people two women and two children. Two more children were severely burned. Mrs Cohen fled the flames into Mrs Pasterner's unit and both women were burned while trying to help.
Oscar G Westphall struck George Bischoff causing a broken neck at Weber's Bowing Alleys in Buffalo at 1 a m. Westphall surrendered to police claiming self defense after Bischoff allegedly struck a pin boy and Westphall remonstrated before the fatal blow.
Despatch from El Paso reports 43 miners trapped in the Chihuahua mine near El Paso. Rescue workers halted due to falling rocks. all extracted miners are dead and hope fades for any survivors.
A Perry Oklahoma despatch reports 50 Osage men once wealthy now addicted to whiskey are undergoing the Keely cure. Their fondness for drink led them to spend large sums of money in Chicago.
In Sturgeon Bay on May 5, Mrs Sailor, wife of a prominent local businessman, drowned her two children by holding them under water in the bay and then killed herself. The tragedy occurred last night with the mother taking part in the fatal act alongside her children.
Louis M Boldenweek a retired capitalist and president of the Chicago kid glove works fell down an elevator shaft in a Custom House Place building last night and was probably instantly killed. The body was found this morning.

The alleged assault is said to have occurred Saturday according to the complainant.

Members of the E A Russell Worthen Street Baptist church Sunday school class gathered at Mrs. O H Dodge home at 89 Middlesex street for a social. They presented Mr and Mrs Lyford who will move to Woodbury Vermont and Mr and Mrs Kimball who will relocate to Dexter Maine with several mementoes. Rev Rowley Greene and Sunday school superintendent Mr S J Smith attended. An entertainment was given and refreshments served.
Catherine Collins and an unnamed companion approached James Donohoe in Middlesex street. The exchange ended with Donohoe losing his watch to the pair. Catherine admitted guilt and was jailed by Officer Cawley. She faces a year at Sherborn reformatory.
