Indianapolis April 30 The American Federation of Labor will demand eight hours tomorrow. Carpenters will start the movement. President Gompers said arbitration will be tried but if not successful other means will be used. The federation may be drawn into the eight hour struggle before the issue is settled. Gompers doubts the American Railway Union can aid in its present condition.
Washington April 30 A bill introduced by Representative Lewis of Kentucky would authorize the purchase of Abraham Lincoln's birthplace for the Lincoln National Soldiers Home. The plan allocates 100000 dollars to erect the home on the site.
