A body identified as William P. Cutler was removed to his home in Woburn after he collapsed while delivering books at BE. N. Burke’s residence. Ernest Jean of Lowell was killed instantly while repairing electric wires on a pole in Leicester Massachusetts. His hand touched an exposed wire and he fell to the ground. He left parents Mr and Mrs Cyprien Jean, seven brothers and two sisters. One brother remains in St Johns Hospital from injuries in a fire last Wednesday. Funeral from St Jean Baptiste church tomorrow morning.

Port Townsend reports steamer Alki brought 60 Dawson passengers and $250000 in dust from Skaguay. Lieut Herron of the Eighth Cavalry, who left Cook Inlet with a small command a year ago, crossed hundreds of miles of mountains to reach the Tanana River mouth and was absent over a year with no outside news.
A blaze at the Best Manufacturing machine shop in Pittsburg Ohio killed one fireman and injured eleven as walls collapsed burying several more. The four story, 100 by 100 foot plant housed pipe fittings and valves and about 400000 dollars of property was destroyed. David Williams was the victim of falling walls.
Local cotton mills face a lull in demand and production that exceeds consumption, but an outright shutdown is not planned. An agent quoted said mills are not closing now or during summer. only a cotton shortage before October might force brief stoppages, though his mill has sufficient stock.

Anton Fratus, an Armenian from Tanner street, was shot in the right thigh during a fight at the steam carcassal on the South Common around 10 PM. Eugene H. Vien, manager of the carcassal, fired in self defense, and Fratus and Edward McAnnally were later arrested after the confrontation. Fratus's wound was dressed and he was sent to St. John's Hospital. Vien was jailed for investigation.
Waltham police arrested Norman L. Chase of Boston, 26, after a wave of complaints across the state. He advertised for a first class position, asking applicants to send two good references and $5. Chase denied comments, was booked, and handed over to post office inspectors following a large mail intake and suspected fraud.
Agent Knapp of the board of health says the smallpox agitation is practically over. By tomorrow the contagious hospital will be vacated and cleaned, with no further buildings under quarantine. There have been 50 cases under the board, ten confined at the hospital. Hecht oversaw the visitations, noting many patients had not been vaccinated.
The outbreak in Moody Street and Tilden Street patients is declared resolved with no fatalities. The full epidemic report and costs will follow, possibly exhausting the year’s appropriation. Alphonse Noel and James Parise families are released from quarantine after recovery.
A fire originating from box 25 at 6 35 this morning broke out in the Suffolk hall building at Suffolk and Merrimack streets. The blaze started in the same shop as a previous incident a few months ago, this time fueled by a pan of hot lard. Firefighters reported only minor damage and a vigorous run for the crew.
The mayor has no news on Gov. C. H. Allen of Porto Rico's plans. It is expected he will come north on the Mayflower and reach near July 10, but the exact date cannot be predicted. Baker's Island and nearby steamer routes have begun regular trips, and a new boat near Essex will open the season next Tuesday. until then the Preston will operate the trips.
