Fitchburg Lease Bill Draws Ice Regulation Debate at State House
At the State House Boston June 27 a large turnout from across the Commonwealth attended the Senate rules committee hearing on remonstrants against omitting the ice sale regulation bill. W E Burdett argued cash sales harm drivers and that poor men could not be helped by legislation. The hearing closed with no agreement. Separately the New England Cotton Yarn Company matter saw House recede from part of the amendment while Senate kept others, and a debt limit article for cities and towns was engrossed by a vote of 30 to 1 with Tolman dissenting.
