June twenty first marks the year’s longest day with 15 hours 17 minutes of sunlight while an 8 hour workday looms. Secretary Long orders battleships away from Hell Gate as alumni of the College of Pharmacy are termed graduates. Critics note the Legislature has silently adjourned or yet to adjourn, and a wry remark ties money to the University of Chicago.
At 7 PM a high tension converter exploded in the Edison Electric Illuminating Company building at Elm Duane and Pearl streets. Henry Kramer, an engineer, suffered a serious leg wound. police and bystanders rushed to aid him. Fifty workers nearby fled as debris flew and electric lights dimmed briefly. No other injuries were reported among workers or pedestrians.

In Reading Pennsylvania on June 21 six hundred car shop workers at the Reading railroad walked out for shorter hours and higher pay. Boilermakers in the locomotive shops joined the action and two thousand iron workers at the Reading Iron Company also struck.
Manila dispatch reports Gen. Cailles an insurgent commander in Laguna with 700 riflemen and bolomen marching from Santa Cruz. He plans to surrender Monday and is expected to assist in capturing Malvar, his superior officer, in the same operation.

Herman E. Guenther of Dracut died at Lowell General Hospital from blood poisoning after being struck by a stray bullet, allegedly from a rifle range near Dracut. The wound pierced his right thigh and worsened then led to his death yesterday afternoon. autopsy performed by Medical Examiner Irish at Undertaker O'Donnell's facility. He left a wife, six sons Emile Frank Ernest Nerman Paul John and two daughters Annie and Mary.
Lowell police arrest 18 year old Joseph Jolly after finding a horse and team in his possession on Aiken street. He admitted obtaining the Nashua team earlier but refused to name the source. Authorities in Nashua and Lowell pursue gypsies connected to the swap for $4. The case links a Nashua theft to a local crime, with inspectors Laflamme and Blood investigating.
Fourteen young women took exams at Colburn school for admission to Lowell training school for teachers. Most were from Lowell normal school.
