The market opened with notable strength but lacked standout features. Analysts expect limited moves driven by manipulation, with bulls trimming positions on rallies and bears covering. Union Pacific and Southern Pacific seen as safe buys, tobacco may rise to 150, steel stocks poised to advance, and Amalgamated Copper’s June 17 book opening noted. Directors at American Linseed Oil include Rockefeller Jr and Gates, while Mo. Pacific faces caution on dividends and consolidation plans.
