Randolph Vermont June 9 The Randolph Savings Bank closed its doors and will seek a court appointed receiver next week after State Inspector Fred E Platt found a loan shrinkage that imperiled deposits by about five percent. The bank had 1771 depositors with 342649.26 due and 5879.34 surplus prior to the loss.
A youth sparked a brush fire along the Concord river bank near South Lowell yesterday afternoon around 4 pm. The blaze spread overnight and reignited at 6 pm, raising fears due to the Rendering company plant nearby. It was finally extinguished by morning with only brush and small timber damage.

David Shapiro age 24 of Lowell was arrested by division 1 officers for larceny of a lady's gold watch chain valued at 60 from Jacob Paichel of 10 Sheafe Street and a diamond ring and eight plain gold rings valued at 65 from Louis Saievett. The larceny occurred about a year ago and part of the property was recovered.

Public schools expand as towns prosper and telegraph lines reach San Joaquin and San Jose de Buenavista. Antigue province remains restless with frequent skirmishes and provisioning for rainy season advances. Noncommissioned officers reduced and new appointments made while several soldiers sail to the Relief hospital ship for discharge and 17 men sentenced by general court martial since Jan 1 1900. Private deaths include Frank L Stone 22 of intestinal tuberculosis April 3 at Iloilo hospital.
In an ambulance Governor Allen made a tour of Porto Rico while the Lowell residence of Gov. Charles H. Allen in Rolfe street reopened for the season. Mrs. Allen and her daughter return to their old home as Gen. Davis helped arrange their arrival and the governor began acquainting himself with new fellow citizens. He covered 62 miles in one day on the island and plans to continue studying the language and assisting education for children to blend American ideas with local life. Governor Allen is expected in Lowell later in the month.
The Dracut saloon of George W. Ducey was entered Sunday night and a quantity of liquor was taken. Entry was gained via the cellar window. Fred C. Church reported fire damage to insurance on a building in Cheever street yesterday.
