Chicago July 20 The Tribune reports uncompromising silver Democrats plan a new national committee after three bimetallist groups meet and seek a hearing. George Fred Williams will move to co operate with the national committee on organization and campaign work. If accepted, smooth. if not, a separate committee will be formed and a state by state movement launched.
Gen Otis reports continued storms with improving signs. July rainfall averages show 14% inches for several years while 41 inches have fallen in twenty days. The nation experiences flooding and outpost troops suffer though sickness remains steady. Coal for returning transports remains unavailable.
Dewey reached Trieste by morning and was greeted with salutes from forts and ships. He called the voyage pleasant and planned a two week stay. He may visit Vienna but likely not Carlsbad and received calls from local authorities, American and foreign consuls, and Minister Harris.
Secretary Alger turns the department over to Assistant Secretary Meiklejohn on Monday. Meiklejohn will arrive from Wisconsin on Saturday to assume his duties.

The race followed yesterday's reversed course. the Britannia signalled the Prince of Wales had London commitments and the race was halted as Shamrock led far ahead. The Britannia finished unfinished after Shamrock led to Nab lightship and tacked. Shamrock appeared unscathed from grounding near Horsefoot fort.
Billy Vanderbilt Jr. involved in a Fifty En counter with camera fiends in Providence on July 19. The event followed Vanderbilt's marriage to Virginia Fair and his experiences with large dogs and automobiles, reflecting a high society lifestyle and public attention.
Coroner reveals lethal head wounds on Harry Chadwick after his Ches ter killing by Joseph Alonzo Hough. Inquest set for Chester town hall at 8:30 am with fifteen witnesses. funeral planned at Chester Baptist church. Hough's condition reported improving from Haddam hospital.
The electric wires committee may act to place wires underground tonight. City officials were away with Old Orchard excursionists. Councilman Saunders offered resignation from the accounts committee, shocking many at city hall. The accounts committee remains Republican led. Saunders’s fate uncertain. A crowd of over 400 Lowell residents departed from Middlesex street station at 7 15 this morning for an excursion to Old Orchard Beach. The trip was organized by Centralville lodge of Odd Fellows and eight cars carried the party. The group plans to return this evening.

In police court today Frank Dunlap was fined 12 dollars for assaulting Andrew W Owens at a freight house on July 12. Two drunks, Joseph Fecteaux was released and Patrick Holland, near delirium tremens, was sent to the workhouse for 15 days. Moses Lacourse's non support case was continued to August 21.
John Curry aged 36 died Tuesday at his Haverhill home. He was born and raised in Lowell where he lived until recently and is survived by brother James Curry and sister Mrs. Margaret Hines, both of Lowell. The funeral was in Lowell yesterday, burial in the family lot at the Catholic cemetery under J. H. McDermott.
The funeral services for Frank A. Taylor were held yesterday at 10 from 24 Dodge street with Key A Wilson officiating and burial in Edson cemetery. Mrs Adeline Blaisdell died and funeral was at 3 from 119 Gates street with R A Greene leading. Henry OToole, 10 Stanley street, funeral at 2 and burial in Catholic cemetery with Molloy in charge. Mary OConnor, 21 Wamesit street, 4 PM funeral and Catholic cemetery burial with Molloy in charge. Dr. O. P. Porter has returned from a three weeks vacation spent camping in Rhode Island, resuming his duties.
Major Alexander Greig Jr received formal notification from the War Department of his appointment as captain in Col. Rice's 26th regiment now organizing. He musters in men at a Lowell armory drill, addresses Company C, and expects two years away. He may recruit in Lowell, cites family separation, and notes several Lowell men eager to enlist. He declines action on resignation now, with Gihon also undecided, Carr likely battalion major, Rose named battalion adjutant, Silk battalion sergeant major.
Major Dow of the Sixth led a night exam at the armory for Company C admissions. New enlistees include Bill Decatur Edward Ball Kenneth Campbell Joseph Cavanaugh Mede Trembley Frank McGlynn Ross Whitmarsh and Major Greig added Bob Dexter as an orderly to Col Darling. Lt Gardner Pearson visited and discussed Porto Rico as it stands. Pearson bought Porto Rican cigars. The shooting committee plans a Dracut range match this Saturday with three teams, led by Lieut Rose. Special post duty orders were issued for Company C sentinels as camp in August approaches.
Wesley Morrill Wilder, son of Alderman D. Wilder, and Miss Bertha Maria Ripley married Wednesday afternoon by Rev. James Mudge at his Natick home. They will reside at 6 Coral Street and host friends after October 1.
Death notices for Katie Regan age six from 15 Richmond street and Lillian L. Folsom nine months, formerly of Lowell, who died July 13 in Auburn California. Folsom's body will be brought to Lowell for burial.
