In playful gambols Thursday the lightning visited Geo W Harris's mill and struck the chimney braced with four iron rods. It entered by four routes into the upper room where 30 to 40 girls worked, scaring them but causing no injuries or building damage. The mill was fully insured with Geo E Metcalf.
Joseph J. Howe of 97 Liberty street and employed at Cady's box shop on Western avenue lost his right index finger when his hand was caught in a circular saw he was treated at the Emergency hospital. Walter Parkhursch, a five year old Polish boy, drowned while playing near the shore by the Wamsutta mills in New Bedford on Thursday.
