In Lewiston Maine on January 18 funeral services for Nelson Dingley were held at Pine Street Congregational Church after prayers at his home. The body was moved to Oak Hill Cemetery Auburn for burial as delegates and residents mourned the long serving congressman. Governor Powers, Senate and House members, and the Lewiston Journal’s former employer attended. Chopin’s funeral march accompanied the procession and a touching eulogy was delivered.
In Deaver Colorado on January 18 the reception to Col Bryan collapsed a platform sending 390 people into a mass and causing panic. Bryan his wife Gov. Thomas Mayor McMurray and Sen Barela were dropped among the crowd while Moses Vian the sergeant at arms was seriously hurt. The Bryans were uninjured and Bryan spoke from the wreck for two hours. Insufficient supports caused the fall.
Bristol Connecticut January 18 Lizzie Taylor adopted daughter of W S Taylor aged 14 was committed to the insane hospital for acute mania for incendiarism She confessed to setting seven fires in 18 months two burned the Taylors two fine barns and caused partial loss of the homestead
The life saving crew at Chatham Massachusetts on January 18 recovered two leather sides from the Portland cargo. Crew members believe severe storms loosened remaining cargo in the hull and expect more debris to wash ashore.

In West Medford Massachusetts Mr and Mrs W T Brisbin and their children Harry 12 Helen 9 Ray 7 Chester 5 and Lewis 3 became violently sick after supper. They had pork steak. Helen developed vomiting soon after the meal. No other details given.

Sheriff Cushing described Charles W. Mayotte as in delirium tremens after a fit, receiving a hot bath and bromide. Mayotte was found dead in his cell, with facial bruises. Medical Examiner Irish cited delirium tremens and ruled the bruises non fatal. The Elks planned funeral services with sister in Montreal, and police denied an investigation request.
John Fay about 40 died at the Union house in South street around 1 pm after a fall in the barroom about 9:30 am. A clerk Joan Walmsley aided him as he regained consciousness, then he grew weak and died before a doctor arrived. The medical examiner was notified. death given as heart failure.
Prominent Marlboro merchants report counterfeit checks drawn on Lake Williams Ice Company. A former employee is suspected after blank checks were taken from the company's book and endorsed as Lake Williams Ice Company by treasurer A. W. Howe. Eight forgeries surfaced among fifteen stolen blanks as police search for the swindler.
Fred Murray, four, of 23 Wade Avenue Woburn, suffered extensive burns from an unknown cause while alone at home. He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where he died at 11 15 Monday night.
City officials meet with President Tuttle of Boston and Maine in Boston Monday morning to discuss the Huntington hall matter and seek settlement. Purchasing orders have been placed with numerous firms, while Chief Engineer Hosmer reports 266 total alarms, 98,514.59 in fire loss, and 1,135 hydrants to date.
Oscar Durand and Marceline Omand were arraigned before Judge Pickman charged with drunkenness after Tuesday night arrest in Little Canada by Officer Leighton. They pleaded not guilty. the woman's husband, a respectable appearing man, testified to the scene.
A government witness testified that his wife was influenced to drink by Durand. Marceline received a six month probationary trial under a probation officer. Durand was found not guilty after an insufficient case. Anthony Clark was fined one dollar for drinking. The case of Charles W. Mayotte, who died at the jail, was called and dismissed.

Marston as vice president Francis N. Chase as secretary Horace S. Bacon as treasurer Charles M. Conant as registrar George H. Stevens as historian Rev John M. Greene as chaplain and George L. Huntoon as auditor Resolutions mourning Edwin Barrett former national SAR president were adopted and a year-end review was presented by the chapter president alongside officer reports.

Dea S A Chase reached Pasadena Calif and notes a white frost recalling home. Mrs George H Bachelder fell on an icy sidewalk Monday and broke her leg. William F Curtin, former health board member, is out but not fully recovered from grip. Hambliet and Howe attended in Boston Tuesday night the Y M C A state executive committee dinner.
A Lowell Massachusetts Volunteer Aid auxiliary meeting decides on hosting the final meeting on January 31. State officers including Mrs. Roger Wolcott are expected to attend to hear the Lowell branch reports. The Ministry at Large offers a historic meeting site.
