O. T. Jan 14 Cashier W Whitney of New York files suit to set aside his wife’s divorce granted a year earlier claiming fraud and perjury. He says she came to Oklahoma stayed three months then sued for divorce and left for New York two days after, having been in Oklahoma only about 100 days.
Streeter Illinois bank announces to depositors to withdraw funds as it winds up operations due to poor business. The institution was organized six years ago and is ceasing in January. Local residents face loss of deposits pending settlement.
Frederick V Fuller, lawyer for Herbert Willis, charged in the Strange murder case, died in Taunton Massachusetts from pneumonia. Fuller was a noted politician and active in local affairs.
Frederick H. Bent aged 28 attended a dance in Taunton in good health yesterday. He died this morning from heart disease. He was well known and popular in the community.
In New York on January 14, William Ferguson and James McKenna were found dead in bed, victims of accidental asphyxiation caused by escaping gas. The deaths are being treated as accidental, with authorities awaiting further details.
Staunton Virginia January 14 Col W E Craig collector of internal revenue under President Arthur died this morning.
Right Rev. Wm Basil Jones bishop of St David's dies at Gondon on January 14. Voice of the church mourns a long serving leader.
President Cleveland sent John J. Winn s nomination for postmaster of Haverhill. Winn born in Haverhill, educated at local schools Holy Cross college and Boston University Law School. A Democrat he served as city solicitor and water board member with McKinley sympathies noted. Senate confirmation may face contest.
Massachusetts news notes a freight train backing into Mr. Fellows of New Salem, New Hampshire, at the Main Street railroad crossing in Georgetown injuring him. The Knights Templar report 11,789 cemetery members in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, a gain of 678 this year. Dr. Thomas J. Conaty, newly appointed rector of the Catholic University, left Worcester for Washington after a mass at Sacred Heart church.

Michael J Brennan’s death sentence for a banker murder is commuted to life imprisonment. Joseph Burkhardt killed his wife and shot himself amid domestic unhappiness. Isaac Belasco, brother of David Belasco, is divorced in San Francisco amid claims of desertion and remarriage.
The Reform club observed its twenty first anniversary with a large turnout at Middle and Palmer streets. The event included supper, a musical and literary program, and dancing. Notable participants included Michael Gorman James Daly and the Children’s Glee club with readings by Dennis Whue and Miss Jansen. The Seema club performed humorous songs and received encores. Edward E Slattery and Hugh Williams spoke on club work before dancing began. Committee members listed. The temperance meeting next Sunday will feature ex presidents of the club. The Reform club began January 13 1876 with founder Dr R J Reynolds and has grown substantially. Initial meetings were in Music hall then moved through sites including ODonnell and Gilbride’s shop Wells hall and current quarters. The club has long been a temperance force in Lowell with many prominent advocates lecturing before its members.
A Sunday school primary teachers union meeting will be held in the Paige Street Free Baptist church vestry Friday at 3 30 PM. Miss Brown will give a lesson in the normal course. All primary teachers are invited.
Cycling club in Lowell will hold five meets next season after two successful events last summer. Notable riders include Dahlberg Harris Stevens and others, with strong attendance and favorable public response. Chainless wheels discussed but likely limited use amid broader plans.
A long standing feud between First Universalist and Grace Universalist members cooled after a public spelling match held in Grace church vestry. Led by A K Whitcomb the event drew an attentive crowd, featured a concert, and concluded with a calm, reconciled atmosphere despite prior tensions between families and churches.

Rebecca Fernley 61 years 11 months longtime manager of the Eage Troy laundry died at 320 Market Street yesterday. She leaves a son in England and four sisters Esther Lundberg Wilmington Caroline Davis Everett Matilda Myer Revere and Priscilla Davis Liverpool England. George Hamblett farmer of Dracut died yesterday at 84. Michael Mullaney 27 5 died this morning at 173 Lakeview Avenue.

The funeral of M Wallace McIntire aged 69 from Middlesex village was conducted yesterday at 2 PM at John Mariner Sr residence where he had lived the last years. Interment followed at North Chelmsford cemetery with Rev I Briant officiating and J A Weinbeck in charge of arrangements.
The society met on Wednesday and chose J A Janvrin as moderator then adjourned until Saturday at 7 30 p m. Revival services at the church under Rev A E Wilson are well attended and yielding good results, with the pastor leading each evening and promising benefits for the church.
