Boston report states Samuel Leavitt aged five died after plunging five stories down an elevator well on Poplar Street. He died at the hospital this morning from injuries sustained yesterday.
A cloudburst at Mogollon New Mexico at about 4 p m yesterday produced eight foot floodwaters. Miner John Knight from Georgetown drowned in his cabin. Two bodies recovered while many missing. About 100 families homeless and 80 houses washed away. Mines and offices damaged. road to the mountain ruined. Banked by floods the Confidence Mine suffered damage and horses were killed.
At Rigby Park Maine on August 20 a crowd of 15000 watched eleven harness heats with most under 2.15. Benton M set a 2.10 flat in the 2.15 trot heats. Joe Patchen, noted pacer, planned to beat his 2.04 record tomorrow after a 2.08 exhibition mile on Wednesday, driver Jack Curry believed a 2.08 stallion mark could fall.
