Five Somerville residents visited Admiral Dewey aboard the Olympia and shared tea on the deck in Naples Bay. The admiral hosted them warmly, spoke of Manila days, and introduced his pet dog as Bob befriended several party members. The visit was part of a Frazar group excursion escorted by H. H. Sept Gillow of the lands and buildings department opened bids for sanitary repairs at Edson school house. Multiple bidders submitted offers, with Scott & O'Day, John H Barry, and others. Final awards ranged from 899 to 987 dollars, with Scott & O'Day winning the contract.
This morning five simple drunks, one illegal liquor sale, and one larceny case appeared in police court. Edwards F F Haley received three months in jail for drunkenness. Henry J Carney was jailed 20 days after breaking into a law office and leaping into the Central street canal. John F Murphy faced two counts drunkenness and illegal liquor sale. the liquor charge continued to next Tuesday with $300 bail. the drunkenness count carried a $3 fine. Agnes McLean was fined $5 for intoxication. John A Porter settled by paying for taken baggage and the case was placed on file.
Thursday 51 inmates at the Tewksbury state almshouse were moved to Bridgewater where the institution is less crowded. Transfers occur with permission of the state board of charities. The Tewksbury house now holds about 1200 inmates, with 1658 registered in cold weather.
City Solicitor Qua reports receipt of a communication from Treasurer Hobson of the H R Barker company regarding a contract for heating Huntington hall. The lands and buildings committee failed to notify about the contract, and Qua is ready to frame one though pressed for time. Taxi case dates hinge on an agreement with Lawyer F E Dunbar, with Qua aiming to finish cases before his city service ends and noting political uncertainty may end his term.
The United States Bobbin and Shuttle company of this city mortgaged its property to Industrial Trust company incorporated under New Jersey laws. A record of the transaction was filed in the city clerk's office yesterday proving the amount involved is 300000.

Charles Tyrell, 22, a Edson high school graduate who did newspaper work, dies at 1 Charles Street. Ambroise Beausoliel, 54, dies at St Johns hospital after long illness. formerly of Harvehill, lived with Cleophas Beausolier at 7 Salem Street. Bridget Cavanaugh, 34, dies at 891 Market Street, leaving husband and a son.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Margaret McKiernan at her sister Mary Sweeney's residence 88 Clark Street with burial in Catholic cemetery under Undertaker O'Donnell Rev Father Burke officiating. Later services for Mrs Henry Woods at Second Congregational Church North Chelmsford were led by Rev Hewitt of Lowell with large attendance and floral tributes. Interment followed at Main Street cemetery with Undertaker Weinbeck and bearers Geo C Moore Walter A Leigh Clifford A Moore and Walter Johnson.
