Rev. F. Allison Currier has resigned to accept a call from a larger church in Nova Scotia. He has already left the city for Nova Scotia after about three years in town. Known as an athletic amateur, he recently joined the local Ninth regiment company. He previously lived in Nova Scotia and left without protracted farewells.
Five first offenders released. Michael J. Carroll must pay $6 plus regular calls to Officer Slattery over four months. Timothy Clark and John McCracken pay $2 fines. George F. Dale vagrancy continued to morrow. Louise Legarde stole 29 yards of cloth at Boott mills and fined $12. Roderick Chisholm appeals $5 for assault on Hii Laporte. Thomas F. Murray continued to morrow for sentence. Jeremiah Toomey’s case placed on file. King Edward will have no opais in his crown. unclear if he objects to sitting at table or starting Friday journey.

Pittsburg August 16 The Joliet front reversal cheers steel strikers and ends peace by compromise for now. Employers see a long fight ahead and feel secure to wait. No new developments today. National Tube welders at McKeesport refuse to join the union and will return if the strike weakens. Monongahela blast furnaces to close Monday, affecting 400 workers.
Burlington dispatch reports Dr Samuel Patenaude of Lowell Mass arrested on an old indictment charging him with robbing the grave of 16 year old Katie Collins in Colchester VT. The case traces to Aug 1890 with coffins bones and a white skirt found. Patenaude fled north and a lab book and dissection tools were found amid the wreckage.
Charles Armstrong delivered a ninth round knockout blow to John Dion during a prizefight at Knickerbocker club in Lowell. Dion died at St John’s hospital at 4:35 AM after suffering brain concussion and hemorrhage. Arm strong and nine club officials were arrested. bail set for Desmond 1000, Kelliher 800, others 500. Dion leaves a mother, a brother, and two sisters.
A letter from Ascuncion Paraguay reports the death of Frank A McKean ex mayor of Nashua and former cashier of the Indian Head National Bank. He fled Nashua in 1893 due to a 100000 shortage and had lived in South America since.
No lives reported as lost by noon after yesterday’s storm in Mobile. Coast towns and islands below have not sent reports. Several vessels are missing but crews are believed saved. Water levels have returned to normal.

Louis H. Kilenski, former partner of the late Governor Greenhalge, was hit by a passing streetcar near the electric track in Point Allerton. He suffered bruises to arms legs and head, but no broken bones or internal injuries. He was knocked ten feet and remained unconscious briefly. recovery expected in about three weeks if no complications arise.
John McElroy aged 15 sustained a head cut from a pulley at Bay State mills Thursday morning and was treated at Lowell Emergency hospital. Andrew Tyrrell 15 of 28 Birch street lacertated his thumb closing a window at United States Cartridge Co Thursday night and was treated at the Emergency hospital. Frank Cassidy 18 of 9 Irving street scuffed at Bleachery Thursday afternoon and received a wrist cut from a knife, treated with stitches at the Emergency hospital.
Boston report says the steamer Halifax was moved from George’s island to Gallup’s island for a hull inspection after pumping out the water.

John Dion sustained fatal injuries after a ninth round confrontation with Charles Armstrong during a Knickerbocker Athletic Club event at Urban Hall last night. Armstrong was involved in the attack that led to Dion's collapse and hospitalization.
