Manila August 16 Insurgents massed for two days about Angelus Col Smith with ten companies of the Twelfth regiment and two guns of the First artillery attacked 2500 entrenched insurgents at the southern approach to Angelus and drove them back after sharp fighting American losses were two killed and 12 wounded while the insurgents suffered 200 casualties
In Cleveland on August 16 four young boys were arrested for involvement in a strike plot to blow up two cars. A church choir member and the local minister were told they must resign if they continue riding on the Big Consolidated railroad line.
In Central street at O'Brien Brothers Tea Store this morning Mrs. Kate Cox slipped on basement stairs and suffered a broken right elbow and head injuries. An ambulance transported her to St. John's hospital. She lives at 3 Watson street.
