In Baltimore on August 13 a husband killed his wife Georgie Adams and her alleged lover Charles Houck on a Cedar avenue bridge near Druid Hill park. Joseph Isaiah Adams, 32, fired two shots at Houck and three at his wife then surrendered, offering a remorseful confession and displaying the spent shells.

In front of the Gilsey house at 2 AM a fight broke out among delegates to the wallpaper convention. Three Boston politicians Joseph A. Conry Patrick Bowen and Joseph J. Norton clashed with the crowd. Conry was stabbed in the back and arms. William F. Francis was cut in the thigh. No arrests were made. The Bostonians say they did not complain about the stabber. Conry is the newly elected congressman for the ninth district.
Speculation centers on whether Congressman William S. Knox of Lawrence and State Senator Guy W. Currier of Methuen will run again in the Fifth District. The Knox Currier Frothingham law firm is said to presage retirement from active politics, shifting the field for next year’s congressional nomination to other contenders.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Benoit of Cliff street narrowly fell 60 feet into a chasm at a natural bridge near Hudson brook. Mrs. Benoit, 50, is seriously injured with internal wounds. Mr. Benoit, 60, has multiple broken ribs. They were saved from death by a last moment grasp, aided by bystanders and quarry workers. Both were hospitalized after the accident yesterday afternoon as authorities investigated.
Pittsburg August 13. The Lindsay and McCutcheon plant of the American Steel company lights up and aims for quick return to full operation while the National tube works at McKeesport remains stalled by striking butt weld boys. Bellarie Ohio Riverside mills Wheeling tie up. Strikes gain at McKeesport and Wheel ing, with American Tin Plate seeking resumed operation amid optimism. Mayor Boynton of Niles calls reports of attempted violence against Lisbon tin workers exaggerated.
Guananogue Ontario August 13 A two week camp opens on Mudlunta Island Thousand Islands for the 22nd annual American Canoe Association meet. Prominent clubs include Knickerbocker New York Buffalo Depew Rochester Yonkers Mohican Red Dragon Newton Dedham Vesper Tatassi Toronto Britannia Bay Mahnawant and others as races set for next week after initial settlement week.
Lawrence August 13 agents of the mills in this city report no anticipated wage reductions. L E Barnes Pemberton mills cites newspaper reports but doubts any cut. E C Willey Atlantic mills says no intention to cut wages. William M Wood Washington mills treasurer and agent says he knows nothing about any reduction.

Col James W. Bennett, struck by neuralgia of the heart since Saturday, was somewhat improved last night. Dr E H Packer attending him said the Saturday night and Sunday condition was critical, but in the past 12 hours there has been a change for the better though not out of danger. Indications are encouraging according to the doctor.
Catherine Connors, arrested for drunkenness, was sentenced to four months in jail in police court. She hanged herself in a cell at the police station this afternoon, authorities report.
The funeral details for Rev. Father Gagnon O M S were not completed this morning. Bishop Brady is expected to assist with a service in French only. At Fr Garin O M L's burial a French eulogy by Very Rev Joseph Lefebvre and an English address by Rev Daniel O Riordan were given, with Perreault's music for the mass.
