William Archibald Services Held In Big Spring
William E. Archibald 48 died Wednesday night in a Big Spring hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a m at Griffin Funeral Home with Rev. James Hall. burial in Memory Gardens. Survived by widow, one son Billy, two brothers, one sister, and mother. Active and honorary pallbearers named. Archibald had owned Onyx Cleaners in Hobbs since 1925 and was allied with several veterans and athletic groups.

About 150 Lea County Democrats attended a Hobbs Dutch lunch where Simms did not name the Republican opposing him, urging a strong turnout to boost the Democratic vote. He urged turnout to back Sen. Clinton Anderson and emphasized registering every Democrat while referencing mines in Raton and Silver City and unemployment in Las Vegas. Other brief speakers included Natalie Buck, Richard Robinson, J. D. Hannah, A. M. Fernandez, Henry Kiker, and Justice August Seymour. A western band played during supper.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Smith Yarbro Funeral Home Chapel for Marion Roberts 11 daughter of Mr and Mrs C E Roberts of 704 List Lovington. The Rev Tommy Ross officiated. She was buried in Lovington Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Bigham Jack Black Sam Price and Luther Cooper. She died Thursday about 4 00 am at her parents home and is survived by her parents and two sisters Jimmie and Patsy.

Farm Bureau to Take Over Long Standing International Farm Program
The American Farm Bureau Federation plans to assume control of a government run youth farm study program by 1957. Under a two year extension with the FDA the program will cost about 650 dollars per trainee plus 400 dollars from the government, with 200 youths expected in 1955 and 400 in 1956 working on farms across 30 states from 52 countries.

The Eunice Cardinal Band, directed by Orin Bartholomew and featuring 70 players, took top honors at the Lea County Fair. Carnival Worker Held On Car Theft Charges
Temple Mables a 33 year old carnival worker from Iowa is held on charges of stealing a 1950 Buick from the curb behind the Court House on Love Street. The car owned by Mrs Minnie Anderson had keys in it when she looked at a bear her son Bill killed. Roadblocks on main highways led to Makles arrest within an hour.
