Lovington To Get First Steam Laundry
Plans are ready for Lovington's first steam laundry. J A Young, currently running one in Canyon Texas, will relocate the plant and begin operations within 60 days. Woodrow Coe leased the site and construction on a masonry building 50 by 80 feet with two large rooms and two rest rooms has started. Estimated cost is $10,000.

Nationals arrive for harvest labor forces in Lovington
The first group of 34 Mexican contract laborers arrived in Lovington last Tuesday to work on tomato and cotton crops. Another group of over 100 is due tomorrow to be distributed among local farmers, with a peak around October 15 when about 1500 workers are expected to be employed through the El Paso assignment center.

Patrolman’s Overparking Crackdown Captures 70 Citations

Sharp Object Attack In Loving ton Leaves Man Injured
Willie D Cooper, a Black man, entered the Alice Cotton home on the hill in Loving ton with two Black girls, Evelyn Calvert and Dorothy Hatcher, before Bailey attacked him with a sharp object in the neck and forearm.
