Lovington minister of the Church of Christ in Lovington denied Tuesday’s Lovington Leader story about a disturbance at the Jackson Avenue Church Saturday night. He said facts were untrue and he will provide a statement for next Tuesday’s issue. The article, taken from the police blotter, described boys brought to the church during an all night prayer meeting. the minister allegedly stayed in a car while incidents occurred. The minister consulted an attorney. sheriff’s office records were checked and copies filed. The Leader invites any response within libel bounds.

In Lea County 1,117 voters participated while about 14,000 registered voters did not cast ballots. Amendment outcomes included No 1 bonds approved 529 to 410 and No 6 extending property exemption to Korean veterans 706 to 264. Graveside Services Held in Hobbs For Jal Infant
Infant Roy Ralph Forrester of Jal was born September 13 1953 in Hobbs and died September 14. Graveside rites were at Prairie Haven Cemetery Hobbs at 5 PM with T E Wallace Church of Christ Hobbs officiating. Survivors include parents Albert and unnamed Forrester of Jal and grandparents Roy Couch Plainview Texas and R T Forrester Ft Cobb Oklahoma. Forrester was a golf professional and Jal Chamber of Commerce manager. The family moved to Jal August 1 from Plainview Texas.
