UN Warns Reds on Korea Peace Conference Attendees
The United Nations bluntly warned the Communist side it may not agree to peace conference arrangements if neutrals are invited to sit in. Special Ambassador Arthur Dean again met Reds near Panmunjon to discuss talks while they demanded neutral observers. Indian chairman of the neutral nations prisoner commission called prospects for resuming explanations in Korea very small after failing to secure talks with Anti Communist North Koreans.

Lucky Dog Saves Davis Family From Gas Danger
A Davis family narrowly escaped carbon monoxide poisoning when furnace vents were shut and gas filled the home. Mrs Davis woke to barking dogs, then fainted. sister and brother in law aided, a doctor advised rest, and the hooded hero dog Lucky is credited with alerting the household. Southern Gas Co and a city inspector investigated while a new furnace is installed.

Final Rites Held For Mrs. T. E. Taylor
Mrs. T E Taylor 74 died after a four week illness and services were held October 20 at First Baptist Church in Seminole. Elder C A Seay and Rev H D Christian led the rites followed by interment in Garden of Memories Hobbs. She was born in Illinois and married in 1900 to Thomas E Taylor. Seven children survive along with 19 grandchildren and four sisters and two brothers. She lived near Lovington and Prairie View before moving to Seminole in 1944 and was active in church and community life.

Former Tatum Oil Field Worker Kills Wife Then Shoots Self
A 39 year old Otis Calvin Atkinson shot and killed his wife Pearl Beth Atkinson then killed himself at their Clinton Arkansas home. Both died from gunshot wounds three miles south of Clinton. The couple had two other children and a history of employment in oil fields with recent disability settlement pending. Burial planned in Denver City Texas with surviving relatives and an Eastern Star affiliation noted for Mrs. Atkinson.

Graveside Rites Held Tuesday For Hobbs Woman
Mrs. Cora Cruce Riley, 65, of Hobbs, was buried Tuesday after graveside services at Prairie Haven. She was found dead Monday morning by Roy Kirk and Delmar Cruce. An inquest ruled natural causes, death likely occurred Saturday afternoon. Riley resided alone at 202 South Coleman and moved to Hobbs from Navarro, Texas in 1933.

Spence Paroled from La Tuna Prison in New Release

New Mexican Honored With War Medal
