Lea County Commissioners approved submitting a $100000 bonds measure to fund permanent Lea County Fair buildings in Lovington. The fairgrounds on county fair association land will host the structures, with the vote aligned to the general election and minimal election costs. Local business leaders and Hobbs supporters plan active backing. no county opposition reported.

Dr. A A McDonald Oldtimer Died Here Tuesday

Dr. Alvin A. McDonald 85 died suddenly Tuesday morning October 17 of a heart attack at the Main Hotel in Lovington He was born January 17 1865 in Macon County Illinois and moved to Lovington years ago He had retired from practice and visited Arizona California and Texas This June he returned for Old Timers Day in Prairieview He is survived by a son and four daughters Funeral services are pending with Smith Yarbro Funeral Home until the son arrives
