Lovington Leaders Newcomers Tea Winners Named

Mrs. Leo P. Johnson won first prize a planter lamp while Mrs. Zelma Rhodes claimed an electric clock and Mrs. W F Hessler took the pyrex kitchen meet at Lovington Leaders Newcomers Tea. Door prizes were presented amid Hallowe en decorations and a program of accordion and piano selections.

Scout Mothers Organize Lovington Cub Scout Group

The Mothers Club for Cub Scouts met at the Methodist Church to organize for Cub Scout activities. Mrs. Gail Power is president with Mrs. Lee Burt as vice president and Mrs. Elza Howard as secretary treasurer. Den mothers include Gail Power H W Gillett Tom Bridgforth and Lee Burt.

Lea County Boys Attend Livestock Meeting In Kansas City

Eastern New Mexico University agriculture students travel to the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City for Oct 13 to 19. They will visit a polled Hereford ranch in Larned Kansas, inspect Kansas State College at Manhattan, tour stockyards livestock exchange packing plants and stock farms, and be hosted by the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.

Gambles Host Roberts Bible Class in Methodist Church

Mr and Mrs P H Gamble hosted Tuesday night for Roberts Bible Class at the First Methodist Church. Canasta and dominos were played and refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. Bobbie Gann to Sing With Stephens Chorus on National Broadcast

Miss Bobbie Gann of Lovington, a member of Stephens College 150 voice Concert Chorus, will take part in the second annual nationwide Mutual network broadcast on Sunday October 15 from 11 to 11 30 a m CST. The chorus is directed by Miss Margaret Colby of Stephens College faculty. Miss Gann is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Hobdy Gann.

Garden Club To Be Organized In Lovington

The Newcomers Tea in Lovington shows strong interest in a Garden Club with canasta sewing and mothers clubs following. Organizers Mrs. Bob Ward and Mrs. Francis Gillette plan the garden club first and invite interested residents to submit names to Mrs. Lucille Daily at 3421 or Lovington Leader office. Tiny Tots Activities Include Indian Games and Visits

Lovington Tiny Tots staged a tent and head band Indian games with Miss Dykstra and her Home Economics Class observing from the High School. A Sinclair model airplane visit and several kindergarten visits from Artesia Roswell Kin dergarten attendees followed. Marjory Hallman was ill after a black widow spider bite.
