Hogs Decline After Peak as Cattle Prices Rally
United Press reports hog prices fell 25 to 50 cents at midwestern markets from recent highs, with declines up to 3 per hundredweight in wholesale pork. Hog top prices ranged 19.60 to 20.10 in the east and 19.75 to 20.10 in the west, while many hogs sold under 19.65. Cattle traded up about 50 cents as slaughter steers and heifers strengthened on lighter supplies, with fed steer tops near 32.25 and most grades 26.00 to 29.50. Lambs were largely steady to 50 cents lower, with spring lambs rising 25 to 60 cents in Kansas City and Chicago. York price actions included Chicago grain higher on wheat, steady corn, mixed oats, and cotton futures advancing. Prices to shippers for live poultry were steady to up one cent, and wholesale eggs and butter showed varied changes in Chicago markets.

Lovington Farmer Injured by Engine Shaft On Farm
C O Benge of Lovington, farming northeast of town on the Lem an Jones place, was badly injured Monday when his clothing tangled in a shaft between an engine and a pump. He was drawn into the moving shaft, suffering eleven fractured ribs and multiple cuts. A similar accident on the same farm a year earlier resulted in a death.

Mrs. Wilder of Lovington Mother Dies in Tulsa
Mrs. R. E. Wilder, 79, mother of W. H. Wilder of Lovington, died Sunday morning in Tulsa Oklahoma after a lingering illness. Mr. Wilder traveled to be at her bedside and will stay through Thursday. Funeral services are planned for Tuesday in Tulsa. She is survived by her husband and three sons R. E. Wilder Jr of Crosbyton Texas, W. H. Wilder of Lovington, and George Wilder of Tulsa.
