Voting lists to be purged on March 20

The Lea County voting lists will be purged March 20 at the county seat in Lovington. Those who moved away or died in the past two years and those who have not voted in the last two general elections will be dropped. They will be notified to protest and remain or be reinstated.

Appeal Notice Filed After DUI Conviction in Jal

A. B. Coton of Jal given notice of appeal to district court after being found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Justice of the Peace E. S. Shattuck imposed a $100 fine. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Wright and son Max visited Roswell last weekend.

Two Compensation Cases Filed and Settled Friday

Two compensation suits were filed and settled on March 10 at the District Clerk's office in Lovington. John A. Driikill v J P Gibbons Inc involved chest injuries with a settlement of 225 dollars. Sam Ross received 275 dollars for injuries while delivering a milk case for Lea County Dairy Co operative after dropping a case.

Three Defendants Dismissed in Lea County Oil Suit

In the civil case Midwest Royalties Company versus several Lea County oil lease buyers, defendants Chas. F. Brown of Jal H. D. Schenck and Earl Payne of Lovington are dismissed. Midwest Royalties seeks to recover oil properties in northern Lea County sold while the company was not operating and its charter had lapsed.

Hobbs Man Dies After Shooting Wife Then Himself

Hobbs resident George McCoy Nalley died in a veterans hospital in Amarillo Texas after allegedly shooting his wife in their trailer home during an argument about her going to work. Police Chief J D Boren identified Nalley and said the wife survived with two bullet wounds.
