The Lea County voting lists will be purged March 20 at the county seat in Lovington. Those who moved away or died in the past two years and those who have not voted in the last two general elections will be dropped. They will be notified to protest and remain or be reinstated.
A sequence of marriage licenses appears by date. March 7 shows B W Williams and Lula Mae Johnson of Lovington New Mexico. March 8 includes Victor L Brant and Willie B Sherwood of Eunice. Robert Cornell and Damarius Rodgers of Midland Texas. Thurman C Pierce of Bonham Texas and Ester Hayne of San Angelo Texas. March 9 lists H B Taylor and Lillie Kay Underwood of Dallas. Jim B Taylor and Keulah Mae Barker of Ranger Texas. March 10 shows Hamenejelda Orguiz of Artesia New Mexico and Nischra S Huerta of Artesia. William Preston Spaulding and Winifred Mae Sharp of Snyder Texas. March 11 includes Joel Wayne Herring and Patty Bell Hull of Andrews Texas. Otis McKee and Annie Mae Craft of Lamesa Texas.
A. B. Coton of Jal given notice of appeal to district court after being found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Justice of the Peace E. S. Shattuck imposed a $100 fine. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Wright and son Max visited Roswell last weekend.
Two compensation suits were filed and settled on March 10 at the District Clerk's office in Lovington. John A. Driikill v J P Gibbons Inc involved chest injuries with a settlement of 225 dollars. Sam Ross received 275 dollars for injuries while delivering a milk case for Lea County Dairy Co operative after dropping a case.
Denver experts tell 500 rural Colorado leaders at a State Agriculture Planning Committee meeting that American farmers must either radically reduce production or tighten belts and accept enduring higher prices. W. Peck of the Farm Foundation warns the farmer is at the end of the line with two bleak options.
Mr and Mrs Bob Walton and their children returned Sunday from Kansas where they had been visiting Walton's relatives.
Joe Black states he will work hard until after the primary and then rest until taking office in January. He criticizes a Republican who might oppose him and says he will ignore the ungrateful rival.
The Dardebaun Trading Co. obtained a special license to sell cit sales house. Payments are set at $10.00 per day.
Julius Skinner, former county treasurer, faced a jury in Lea County as defense witnesses testified to his good character. The trial revealed a missing 11 117.06 in tax receipts and a 1 300 shortage tied to cash handling, with auditors Mansfield Tweedy and Earl Almon explaining the oversight before the case continued to page 4.
Rotary luncheon leaders E M Slim Hester and T C Perkins chaired the program while a special film explained soil mineral content and its impact on human and animal health. Hobbs guest Rotarian Jack Dalton attended the meeting.
In the civil case Midwest Royalties Company versus several Lea County oil lease buyers, defendants Chas. F. Brown of Jal H. D. Schenck and Earl Payne of Lovington are dismissed. Midwest Royalties seeks to recover oil properties in northern Lea County sold while the company was not operating and its charter had lapsed.
The First Assembly of God in Hobbs at 601 E Snyder St began a revival Sunday morning with evangelist Rev. Ernest Boatright of McKinney Texas. Evening services start at 7 15 and Rev. Sanders the local minister invites all to attend.
Former Lea County Tax Assessor John Love is in town visiting relatives and friends and discussing plans for the upcoming primary election.
Notices were mailed Saturday to 1,017 registered Republicans in Lea County urging attendance at the county convention in Hobbs on Tuesday night March 14. The meeting at Hobbs City Hall is open to all, with Mrs. Seth Alston presiding and John Knorr, State Chairman, delivering the keynote. Officers for the coming year will be elected.

Poo Wocy, assistant superintendent of the Albuquerque Consolidated School System, announces his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for State School Superintendent. Wiley was appointed to his current post last year after serving as Bernalillo County School Superintendent.
The Cerebral Palsy Treatment Center will run a clinic for examining cerebral palsied children on Monday, March 20, at its new $45,000 building at 3502 Ave N. Physicians C B Sadler Amarillo E T Driscoll Plainview and R Q Lewis Lubbock will assess patients.
Hobbs resident George McCoy Nalley died in a veterans hospital in Amarillo Texas after allegedly shooting his wife in their trailer home during an argument about her going to work. Police Chief J D Boren identified Nalley and said the wife survived with two bullet wounds.
Assistant District Attorney Mack Easley briefs the Heard case as the defense plans a quick drive to trial in Clovis. Key witnesses include Otto Smith and Booker's testimony remains pivotal. Booker remains jailed with restricted contact as proceedings set to unfold.
The Oil Conservation Commission reports seven new oil wells finished in the state during the previous week.

The show runs at Lovington High School Music Room with tea at 3 pm.
