Speegles Plan Move to Lovington After Portales Sale
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Speegie travel from Portales to Lovington to take up residence there after selling their Melrose business interests. They keep their Portales home on Cottonwood street, now occupied by Dr. and Mrs. N. L. Tedford, and have bought an acreage near Lovington on the Artesia highway. The couple will decide later on property use. In Lovington they learned that 18 local businesses were once run by former Portales residents. Mr. and Mrs. Speegle previously lived in Portales.

Wiley Announces Candidacy for State School Superintendent
Tom Wiley longtime Albuquerque educator and former Bernalillo County School Superintendent announced his bid for the Democratic nomination for State School Superintendent. Wiley began teaching in 1929, rose to principal, served as county superintendent, led the Industrial School for Boys in Springer, and earned a UNM degree. He and his wife Riley have two daughters and Wiley says he can serve the state as superintendent.
