July Docket Features Civil Cases Through July 6
Civil cases on the docket began June 11 with Sally Williams versus the City of Hobbs. L W Ward of Lea county moved a $4000 suit from Lovington to Albuquerque against Sinclair Oil and Gas Amerada Petroleum and Rowan Drilling. He alleges damage to eight acres of water rights when a rig was skidded and fences cut as the rig was moved, wrecking plans to irrigate and cultivate.

County Board Denies Safety Committee Tax Funds Request

Haley Nabs Wanted Man
A Lamesa Texas burglar was arrested Tuesday night twenty minutes after word reached Lovington that he was wanted. State patrolman Otis Haley took the call and spotted Eugene Hilburn twenty two riding on South Main Street. Hilburn had burglarized a Lamesa barber shop Sunday or Monday evening and signed a waiver of extradition before the Lamesa sheriff escorted him to Lamesa Wednesday afternoon. He was armed with a four and a half inch knife and an ice pick.
