The Corporation Commission hearings drew about 65 residents from Lovington who voiced strong objections to phone service, especially long distance lines. Lovington barbers install a new two chair shop in a building used by local barbers. County officials say the move aims to accommodate the anticipated influx of about 5 000 braceros this fall for Lea County farms. Barbers note they will add chairs as needed to serve workers.
