Good Rains Over Country and Town Obstacle to Saloons

Heavy rains last Tuesday and Tuesday night flooded streets up to eight inches in places. A two week pattern of showers boosts grazing near the cap rock and Lovingtom area, with feed to mature before cold weather. A former Carlsbad saloon bid to reopen at 3,500 dollars yearly was refused, echoing a Phoenix tale of tent saloons and loss of town authority, feared to become a new Jag-ville.

Lovington Plans Annual Picnic and Barbecue Dates

Lovington will hold its Annual Picnic and Barbecue on the 28th and 29th of this month with extensive preparations. The event is billed as the year’s largest, featuring amusements and games, plus intercity baseball practice to boost visiting teams. Two days of singing follow on the 1st.
