Automobile Crash Kills Two, Injures One Near Hatch
Three Hatch residents, Mrs Livie Browning Annie Morris and Ora Browning, were in a car fatally damaged Friday east of Animas when a westbound Browning vehicle turned off Highway 80 into the Animas road and was struck by an eastbound car driven by Joe Dale Linn. The Browning vehicle occupants were reported killed or injured with Ora Browning hospitalized for severe head injuries and fractured ribs after being transported to El Paso for treatment. Authorities said the Browning car failed to yield the right of way.

A wave of break ins hits area businesses and residences. Phillips and Son Grocery was entered Friday night with 21 cartons of cigarettes, meats, and other goods stolen. A masonite cover was torn from a tea window to gain entry, but the interior overall shows limited damage. The report also notes a broken into Mormon Church where the bishop’s desk was ransacked but nothing seems missing. Police report a peacock stolen from Lee Smith and sold to Jose Jacquez. a stranger paid five dollars for it. Three girls escaped from the Girls' Welfare Home in Albuquerque. two have been found, one remains at large. A traveling thief stole TVs from Sea Shell Motel and Bel Shore Motel, with same suspect likely behind both cases.

Special Services Begin at First Methodist Lordsburg
Dr H H Allen of El Paso will start a series of special preaching services at the First Methodist Church in Lordsburg Sunday morning. The public is invited to attend nightly at 7 30 p m through the week. Allen, a former El Paso pastor and Sacramento Summer Assembly manager, leads a Southern state revival effort with other Methodist churches coordinating next week.
