Lordsburg police car sustained extensive damage in a collision with a auto driven by George Drakovich near the west city limits. Drakovich, westbound and stopping to turn into a service station, failed to yield the right of way. he was cited and fined. Patrolman Frank Aguilers and City Patrolman Jesus Estrada were aboard the police car.
The New Mexico Democrats gathered in Santa Fe from September 5 to 9 to adopt a party platform. State Democratic Chairman Seaborn Collins and gubernatorial candidate John Burroughs praised the platform as fair and representative of the convention’s majority. Delegates from Lordsburg included Alan A. Koff Hidalgo County chair Fausto Noce Richard Dockum Bob Harwood and others.
