Vehicle Theft Investigation Continues Across Nation

Hidalgo County sheriff says a nationwide stolen vehicle operation is emerging as investigators link a stolen typewriter to forged documents enabling thefts. Two suspects, Daniel L Fuller and Jimmy Lee Mills, face charges of possession of stolen vehicles after arrests last week. Wayne E Newman and Debra A Nicholas also charged. Newman and Nicholas were stopped in Lordsburg on September 1, fled, and a 1974 Toyota showed altered VIN and removed door plate.

Fund Raiser Friday and City Bond Talk in Lordsburg

A community fund raiser for re roofing the Animal Gym is set for Friday night September 25 from 4 to 6 PM at the school cafeteria with prices 3 dollars for adults and students and 1.50 for children six and under. The Lordsburg City Council will meet Monday September 28 1987 to discuss selling a 600000 Gross Receipts bond to fund Fieldhouse work and equipment with Lodgers Tax proceeds to back the loan, potentially covering about 80 percent of costs.

AARP To Meet At Center Monday

The American Association of Retired Persons will meet Monday September 28 at 2 PM in the Civic Center. Guest speaker Mr Daniel Terrazas of Silver City will discuss Cardiac Pulmonary Respiration. Animas Board Hires Aids by Donna Townsend

Animas School board met September 8 and approved hiring aides Cora Anzaldua Margaret Ballisteros Lori Coleman and Kelly Peterson. The board also set October meeting at 6 30 p m and discussed discipline policy Baccalaureate home football schedules and newspaper bidding procedures. State job briefing in Lordsburg October 1 at 11am was announced.
