Vine Pace is expected to start at quarterback for the Silver City Mustangs in the home opener against the University of Arizona Freshman team at the Silver City stadium. A three man Air Force team visited Lordsburg to establish a Ground Observers Post. A meeting for volunteers is set with the VFW on September 27, featuring films on the GOC and a talk by M/Sgt. Carter about its importance. Carter and 1st Lt R. C. Clifford will display at the Old Times Reunion on September 21 and 22.
Lordsburg Junior High traveled to Silver City on Tuesday September 18 and returned home victorious 19 to 0. Montana starred with a 50 yard TD run. Freddie Ramirez added a 3 yard score. Jim Evans and Jesus Lopez sparked the drive, Lopez kicked the extra point, and David Arredondo intercepted a Silver City pass. The team travels to Deming September 25 for its second game.
Harold Scofield announces a parade start delay to 10 o clock Friday morning due to late arriving judges. Mrs Homer Brooks Mrs Damon Dunagan and Jimmy Red ford were in El Paso Monday.
The Old Timer parade will start at 10 o clock Friday morning from the High School with 31 entries including 16 competitive floats. Notable participants include Mayor Bill Kimbley, the High School Band, the American Legion Color Guard, National Guard, and diverse floats from local groups and businesses.
