Joe Richards of Rodeo show ed the fat calf that was grand champion at the Hi dalgo County Fair Livestock Show last week. Lyle Richins and James Meador, both of Animas, took grand and reserve fat barrow. Johnny Eddy of Animas showed the grand champion fat lamb and Fred Hassman of Hachita the reserve. Roy Vaughn of Animas showed the grand breeding heifer in Hereford with Jeanette Hitson of Lordsburg showing the reserve. Shirley Hitson of Lordsburg showed the grand champion Black Angus heifer. First for Hereford bull went to Roy Vaughn and Appaloosa filly colt to Jimmy Walters of Animas. Other fat calf results listed. heavyweight, light weight and hog placements named with multiple riders.

Armed Robbery At Bivens Motel Leads to Juvenile Case
Three men and a 14 year old girl were charged after a 12 30 am Bivens Motel holdup. Victim Mrs Bivens said the robberies involved pistol threats for about $22 to $23. Warrants were issued as officers pursued suspects in a car stopped near Safford. The juvenile reportedly traveled from Pennsylvania with Garrick and joined the Dettmans in Texas.

Old Timers Parade Delights Crowd With Colorful Floats
The fifteenth annual Old Timers parade drew a capacity crowd along Railroad Avenue. Beta Sigma Phi Sorority won best float with Mt. States Telephone and Hidalgo County Fair Board taking second and third in the senior division. Cotton City 4-H Club led the junior division, followed by Animas FHA and Lordsburg student council. Out of town judges praised the large number of individually crafted floats. Prizes were awarded at the rodeo Friday night. A banquet Thursday at the Cafetoria featured centerpieces by Mrs. C. L. Rogers. Dellon Cox and Gerald Cox entertained, receiving an engraved trophy. Oldest attendees honored and Major General Hugh Milton spoke at the event. New officers were elected for the coming year.
