Harper-Conner Church Wedding at The Church of Christ

Miss Pat Harper of Lordsburg and Mr Lewis Conner of Red Rock were married by Rev. J. J. Brimberry at eight o'clock Saturday morning in The Church of Christ. The ceremony featured a flower arch, Ruth Wood’s Lohengrin march, and Mendelssohn’s processional. A breakfast for 26 guests followed at the Atkinson home before the couple departed for a week long honeymoon at Grand Canyon and nearby sites.

Smiths Enjoy Vacation on Pacific Coast Trip

Mr and Mrs Wade B Smith and daughter Mary Alvis of Tucson took a six week 3600 mile vacation along the Pacific coast. They traveled in a house trailer visiting San Francisco bridges Crescent City and the Smith River. Wade Smith a Southern Pacific engineer logged 27 years seniority and noted 290 gallons of gasoline used.

New Mexico Cattle Growers Plan Executive Board Meeting

Well informed cattlemen are invited to attend the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association Executive Board meeting at the Clovis Hotel in Clovis New Mexico. Vacationed in Michigan at Charlevoix resort

Mrs Leslie Lee and her two children Barbara and Leslie Jr return from a six week vacation at Charlevoix Michigan. They stayed at the cottage of Mrs Lee's father James Dissette which has been in the family since her childhood. Charlevoix lies on Lake Michigan's east shore and is a noted summer resort.

Independence Of Mexico Celebrated In Local Festivities

The celebration began Wednesday with speeches music and recitations on the old Silver City highway led by Ernesto Ruiz and Nov erio Hernandez. A grand parade Thursday featured the Lordsburg Maverick band ornate floats and children, including a giant crepe paper duck. A Thursday night ball at the Palador Pavilion concluded the event with Pete Valverde and his orchestra.

Gale couple called to Douglas for daughter's operation

On September 14 Mr and Mrs RR Gale were called to Douglas for the serious operation performed on their daughter Mrs Vera Dell. Dr Paul Austin performed the operation and Mrs Dell's many friends will be pleased to hear that she is doing nicely.

State Highway Engineer Visits Lordsburg and Plans Virden Project

State Highway Engineer Grover F. Conroy and his wife toured Lordsburg area facilities. He praised highway progress under his administration, noted the Steins Pass road on the 7 percent system, and said Virden project work would begin after government approval of the secondary program. He reviewed widening and improvements between Lordsburg and Deming along with dips elimination. The department reports 1,375 miles of new highways, 1,015 miles of black top surfacing, 14 landscaping, 14 gravel surface projects, 12 large bridges, and 7,206 miles of maintained highways versus 5,805 miles in January 1931.

John D Johnson influential Lordsburg businessman died after a stroke near his home by the airport. He fell unconscious on the sidewalk and died the next day at DeMoss hospital. Funeral services will be at Heather Funeral Home with Knights of Pythias in charge.

Crippled Children's Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes

The County Advisory Committee held its regular monthly meeting at the Public Welfare office at 4 p m on September 7.
