County Agent Haran Black reports stock parade preparations in full swing for Saturday October 2. Lions Club officers and Claude Sanders organize floats from local businesses headed by Lordsburg High School band. Floats feature depotted cars burros or goats with prizes of 10.00 5.00 and 2.50 for first second and third. Parade starts at Railroad Avenue opposite Subway at 10 AM with merchant floats lining up by nine. Fine sheep goats and pure bred Herefords will appear at Montague Townsend lot as in prior years.

The amendment election in Hidalgo County passed off quietly with one precinct voting none. In Lordsburg about 450 votes were cast with turnout estimates at one quarter to one third. County Clerk Eleanor F. Cochran recorded results: Amendment 1 twenty seven four? 437 for 284 against. Amendment 2 322 for 389 against. Amendment 3 455 for 316 against. Amendment 4 389 for 326 against. Amendment 6 360 for remaining not specified. All statewide amendments were defeated.
