A special early evening pro and chuck wagon supper for Old Timer members and guests on Old Timer Day Saturday Sept 15 at the football stadium gates open at 6 and chow served soon after. Albert Hill in charge.

Prizes In Old Timer Parade Announced

The Old Timer parade committee will award prizes in several classifications. Judges from Deming will select the float showing the most historical value and the most original, greatest contrast, and artistic merit. Bicycles will be judged on decoration artistry.

Parade Street Closures Ahead of Old Timer March

Police chief Lelo Sanchez announced street closures for Saturday morning September 15 to aid the Old Timer parade. South Fidet Railroad Ave Chester Street Mreet and Animes from 4th to Railroad Ave will be cleared from 4 am for spectator safety. Sheriff Dick Richards and De Sheriff E N Jackson marshal the event with Chamber of Commerce support. Business and home displays of the Flag are urged for the weekend gala of Freedom and Liberty.

Third Annual Mexican Fiesta at St Joseph's Church

United Societies of St Joseph's Church announce the third annual Mexican Fiesta on September 14 15 and 16 to mark Mexican Independence and honor nearby Mexico as a neighbor and cultural link in the Old Southwest. The event runs Friday to Sunday with a different program each evening noted in the paper.

Sheriff's Posse Repairs Chutes At Fairgrounds

Last Sunday about twenty Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Posse members met at the fairgrounds at 9 as hammer saws wrecking bars and willingness were used to repair corrals pens and rodeo equipment. Ed Hitson and Dick Richards led the effort. A lunch for the workers followed and roping activities took place afterward.

Western Garb Adds Color to Coming Week End

The sheriff's posse rounded up a few guilty persons Wednesday morning not dressed in Western garb. By afternoon most were wearing Western outfits, giving a colorful feel to the upcoming weekend events on Railroad Avenue.

J. Malone of Lordsburg, a pioneer resident, owns the sole untransferred original stock certificate issued when the First National Bank was organized forty four years ago on September 20. A loyal citizen he also actively supports government calls and duties. (continued on Page 6)

Hidalgo County Fair Opens With Free Admission

The Hidalgo County Fair and Posse Rodeo are set for a strong showing with county support and abundant fair entries. Non perishable items should be delivered Friday 2 to 8 PM and perishable goods Saturday by 8 AM. grounds open Saturday at 9 with free admission.
