Lordsburg Mavericks Fall in Season Opener
The Lordsburg High School Mavericks lost 12-6 to the Western Colts of Silver City last Friday night at the LHS stadium. A 65 yard second quarter drive produced Lordsburg’s score by Jim Williams, but the extra point failed. The Colts answered with a 65 yard TD run by Dick Bowen after the kickoff.

County Fair and Rodeo Planned as Highway Work Goes On
The Hidalgo County Pair and Sheriff's Posse Rodeo runs Sept 19 to 22 despite street closures from highway construction. Events begin with an Old Timers banquet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Legion Hall. A Friday 9:45 a.m. parade starts at the fairgrounds, with routes shifted through residential areas.
