Lordsburg School Board Seeks Bids to Tear Down Enrichment Center

Lordsburg Municipal School Board adjourned a regular meeting Tuesday and set a public viewing for Friday September 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday September 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to consider bids to demolish the Enrichment Center. Linda Schulz reports bids will be entertained to raze the old school building.

Constitution Week will be observed in Lordsburg with ceremonies at City Hall on September 17. Lordsburg Lions Club will place American flags on display. The editors note recalls the constitutional framing of a national judiciary and the early reliance on Congress to establish federal courts.

Alert Officers Capture Two Felons At Motel

An alert Border Patrol observer and Lordsburg Police arrested two California men, John Gonzales and Matthew Stokes Foley, at a local motel after NCIC checked their vehicle. They faced felony charges in California for kidnapping and sodomy and had sawed off shotguns in the car. Both waived extradition and await governors papers.

Hidalgo County Board of County Commissioners will review a proposed zoning ordinance at 5 00 p m Monday Sept 10 in the Commissioners Chambers The ordinance will again be discussed at 5 00 p m Tuesday Sept 11 in the regular meeting The general public is invited to attend.
