Playas Road Still Has Its Problems
Hidalgo County commissioners heard from Commission Chairman Fausto Noce that the state highway department has not accepted the Playas road and it will remain barricaded until issues are resolved. County Road Department Supervisor Jake McCarty reported on road status while John Robertson passed away Tuesday with services pending.

Services Held Saturday For Federico Chavez
Federico S. Chavez 79 longtime Lordsburg resident died Tuesday September 4 at home. Rosary was held Friday September 6 at 7 pm at Bacas Heather Funeral Chapels and the Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10 am officiated by Father Carmelo Arroyo. Interment at Shakespeare Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary bearers listed. Born January 28 1911 in Encinillas Chihuahua Mexico he was a World War II Navy veteran. He lived in Lordsburg since 1945 and belonged to St Josephs Catholic Church DAV and VFW. Survived by two sons Tommy L and Freddy Chavez both of Lordsburg a daughter Mary Nerone Houston Texas a brother Lucio Chavez Deming and 10 grandchildren. Chapel in charge of arrangements.
