Robert Swan Auxiliary No. 30 of The American Legion met at the Legion Hall with Mrs Ena Mitchell presiding. They will cooperate on a float for the Old Timers Parade and to serve a banquet to the Moctezuma Club and Old Timers in September. The unit pledged $5 monthly to the school lunch room and $2.50 monthly to Community Charities. The group has 54 members and reported 77 inches of publicity this month.

Helicopter Forced to Land on Highway Near Lordsburg
An Air Force helicopter carrying Col W Robertson Maj Johnson and Airman David Luther made a precautionary landing on Highway 170 80 two blocks west of downtown Lordsburg after an engine failure during a ferry flight from Randolph Field Texas to Reno Nevada. The blades damaged a highway sign but all aboard escaped injury. the aircraft was left for repair after a Randolph Field plane retrieved the crew.

Lease for 26 Grant County perlite claims near Lordsburg
A lease between George Stone of Lordsburg and Charles M Day of Tulsa files with Silver City county clerk. It covers 26 mining claims in Grant County near Lordsburg with about six million tons of perlite. An open pit mine with 200 ton daily plant is planned, shipping to Midland Texas popping plant. Stone named general manager, lessee pays 20 cents per short ton or $200 monthly, plus $10,000 due by Dec 15, 1958.
