E J Isaacks of Las Cruces bagged a 95 pound antelope on the first day of the season at 12 20 p m. His son in law Mrs Robert Berger is connected, and Randy Berger appears in the photo. The antelope was brought to town that afternoon after posing for the picture at a local spot near Rea Rowe.

Miss Anna Martin daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Martin was named Lordsburg Sun Princess for the Southwestern Sun Carnival in El Paso January 1 1953. The selection followed a Monday chamber of commerce meeting at Hotel Hidalgo with names drawn from walnut shells. Participating groups included Odd Fellows Rebekahs American Legion Business and Professional Women's Club Pythian Sisters Eastern Star Lions Club Beta Sigma Phi VFW Auxiliary Elks and Lordsburg Woman's Club.

Boy Scouts Campaign to Get Out The Vote
The Lordsburg Boy Scouts join the nationwide Get Out the Vote effort calling on homes on November 3 and posting a Liberty Bell cutout urging citizens to vote. The non-partisan campaign, sponsored with the Freedoms Foundation, aims to increase turnout among about 81 million eligible voters and teach citizenship to over 2 million boys.
