Hidalgo County Democrats Set Precinct Meetings
Hidalgo County Democrats will hold precinct meetings Thursday November 1 at 7 30 p m in the Commission Chambers of Hidalgo County Courthouse. The purpose is to elect precinct officials and members of the County Central Committee. A County Central Committee meeting will be held November 8 at 7 30 p m, in the commission chambers, to elect county officials and State Central Committee Members.

Fire Restrictions In Effect For Gila Forest This Week
Fire restrictions apply to all Gila National Forest areas and adjacent Apache National Forest land in New Mexico. Restrictions started 8:00 AM Saturday Oct. 20 and continue until fire danger lessens. Free campfire permits available at Ranger Stations and the Supervisor’s Office, but permits cancel during high winds. Fire management cites dry windy weather and curing fuels as cause, with hunters and woodcutters among those at risk. The north edge fire in the Gila Wilderness was contained late Tuesday after burning since September 23, expanding to 3800 acres using natural barriers and hand lines. saws require spark arresters for fuelwood cutters.
