Hidalgo County Medical Complex was formally dedicated Monday with Commissioner Frank Chaires and Lieutenant Governor Mike Runnels overseeing the ceremony. Commissioner Jerry Veck recalled the original closure in 1975 due to a deficit of 40 000 dollars monthly and warned deterioration if action did not occur. Animas School Board Hosts Full House

Ewing Named Citizen Of The Year At Chamber Banquet
Fred Ewing born and raised in Lordsburg was honored as the nineteenth Citizen of the Year since 1965 at the Chamber of Commerce annual banquet held Monday evening in the High School Cafetorium. Ewing, after serving in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, enrolled at New Mexico A and M, now New Mexico State University.

Eight Trains Now Zipping Straight Through Lordsburg
Eight daily trains now bypass Lordsburg with Straight through runs from Tucson to El Paso. Each train carries four crew, reducing Lordsburg layovers by 32 per day.
