City Adds New Water Well to Support Growth
The city installed a 270 foot well drilled by Wallace and Meyer, delivering about 600 gallons per minute. Local Delegates Back Highway 70 Plan in New Mexico
Delegates from every city on Highway 70 gathered in Ruidoso to endorse the Highway 70 Association aims to divert tourists through southern New Mexico. George P. Jeffus and Harry G. Galusha represented Lordsburg, with meetings at the Navajo Lodge and Navajo Club. A resolution urged informing the Governor and Highway Department about two flaws on Highway 70, the Pecos bridge at Roswell and the Las Cruces overpass, while broader improvements were planned.

Enjoyable Lions Club Party Draws Local Members
The Lions Club hosted a near full turnout party with wives and guests. A pot luck banquet featured nest loaf, salads, vegetables, and desserts. Lion Gass served hot coffee as H V Payne presided, Dr C Austin named Tail Twister, and Rev Paul Hively and Rev David Moore assisted. Vocal solos by Emma Scofield Thelma Ross Harry Rosensten and piano by Mrs Claude Fuller delighted attendees. Mrs David Moore organized games and stunts. The group closed with a chorus of America.

Brig Gen C G Sage announced in Lordsburg that Capt Gerald D Fuller was appointed to Battery C of the 716th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. The unit will seek Federal recognition around November. A Quomset building north of the underpass serves as a temporary armory, with other 716th units in Deming Silver City Las Cruces and Alamogordo.

Plane Lands Upside Down in Forced Landing
Prescott pilot Joe Nee with over 3000 flying hours forced a light air coupe to land on its back at Kayken field after a gust lifted the craft. The freak wind gust caused the accident, damaging a wing and breaking the propeller. the nearly new plane and its veteran pilot escaped serious injury.
