Lordsburg Womans Club held its regular meeting with final district meet arrangements for Lordsburg on Oct 31 and Nov 1. John T. Muir and Mrs. R. were admitted as members as preparations included crafts from Red Cross and a program featuring magazine prints and recipes.
The document outlines a multi day convention schedule for the New Mexico Federation of Women’s Clubs, featuring Mrs. Sigurd Johansen as state president and other officers. Activities include meetings, singing, a luncheon, resolutions and credentials reports, a chemistry lecture by Dr. Ernest Anderson, and a style show at the Hotel Hidalgo with a musical program and an address on Women in Literature.
Roy Hall of Chama New Mexico arrives as Safety Engineer at Banner Mine succeeding William C Hill. Hall spent four years in Moroc Cal Bolivia as manager of a major tin mine. Frank and Grant move to Long Beach to join aviation service. Earl Ferson of El Paso joins office staff and Maurice Culter named assistant Assayer by Superintendent Bowman.
Wallace Lowe 20 and Henry L. Sanders 50 both of Douglas died after a car left the Lordsburg Douglas highway and overturned. William Evans Chapman and William Clemens were injured while three other Douglas men aboard, employed at Morenci, were not seriously hurt. Bodies were sent to Douglas for interment.
Mrs Rose Geoghan Shea born January 6 1856 in Hoston Massachusetts moved with family to Chippewa Falls Wisconsin married William P Shea September 22 1874 had ten children. After living in Chippewa County Kalispell Montana Tucson Arizona and finally Lordsburg New Mexico she died October 19 1941 in Lordsburg Hospital aged 85 years 9 months 13 days surviving two sons and two daughters and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren

The Assembly of God Church led by Rev H P Hines lists Sunday services at 9:45 Sunday School 11:00 morning worship and 7:30 evening service. Evangelistic services are planned Monday to Wednesday evenings. Curtis Dickinson and Hal H Martin perform and preach during the day. Mrs Alton Warren and Mrs Marshall Fuller visited Tucson Monday and Tuesday.

President Tom B. Gee of the Rancheros de Hidalgo reports full readiness for the fair opening Friday October 24 with events through October 26. A feeder calf sale auctioneered by Col. Earl Martin will occur October 27 followed by daily rodeo sports and a kid’s pony race. Governor John E. Miles to attend October 26 with address and honors.
Rev Joe Emanuel, longtime pastor of the Lordsburg Methodist church, is promoted to the Ft Boulevard Methodist church in El Paso by the New Mexico Methodist conference. He leaves a beloved wife and son, while Rev F R Poage from Alamogordo takes the Lordsburg pulpit. L L Thurston moves to Raton, prompting changes in local church leadership and Lion Scout positions.
Less than a week remains for the Evangelistic meeting at the Church of Christ. Tonight Hal H. Martin will preach on God Gives Life. Curtis Dickinson directs Booster Chorus and will lead the final program. Concluding services run Sunday to Wednesday with solos and varied sermon topics.
Sixteen State College students are named in Who's Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges. Mrs. June Brooks Redford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Brooks and Lordsburg High School alumna, a senior at State College, has held secretary and vice-president roles in the Home Economica Club and led the Associated Womens Society and Chi Omega Sorority as president.
The Lions Club meeting Tuesday noon with Melugin presiding featured Harlan Black secretary of the Southwestern Livestock and Fair Association as speaker. Black explained the association’s organization and aims and noted the rodeo is run by Rancheros de Hidalgo with no permanent link to the group. He announced Governor's Day set for Sunday October 26 with the Governor arriving Saturday evening October 25.
Firefighters responded to a Monday blaze at the Ralph Smith residence. A Betsy built play house containing a Jack O Lantern caused a small fire that damaged toys, clothes and Betsy’s dolls.
An old time dance will be held at the Knights of Pythias Hall on Saturday night October 25 sponsored by the Fair association.
During the flag ceremony all present should face the flag and salute. Hugo Olsen and a Boy Scouts of America group held meetings with Cub Pack leaders and den mothers including Dr. Roas W. Johnson EB. D. Wright Jack Heather and others. Den schedules and regular Pack meetings are announced with den mothers and chiefs listed.
L. Ek Ruffin of Albuquerque, a delegate to the National Reclamation Association session in Phoenix, reports on the three day gathering. Delegates organized a New Mexico State Reclamation Association with its first annual meeting set for November 21 and 22 in Albuquerque to elect directors and officers.
Mr and Mrs George Wood attended the funeral of C D Cowarts father at Ft Sumner this week. The father aged over 76, and Miss Berry Wood is Cowarts wife.
About 200 Hidalgo County residents petitioned District Judge A. W. Marshall to convene a special grand jury to investigate alleged gambling in Lordsburg. The court has the petition under advisement and is expected to rule this week.
Baylus Cade, associated with Hugh L. Sawyer of Las Cruces, begins an audit of the city records to verify financial ledgers and public documents. The action involves review of official files and potential reconciliation of discrepancies.
The Wm Shea family expresses gratitude for the many kind deeds and words of sympathy and for the floral offerings received during their recent bereavement.
Lordsburg hosted a large American Legion Auxiliary district meeting in the Hotel Hidalgo lounge with a banquet and program. Notable attendees included Mrs. Ena Walter district president and Mrs. Ruby Mulanax, while speakers M. Brickley Claude Sanders and Willard Holt highlighted the event. The afternoon featured a skit by the Junior Auxiliary and a plan to petition the State Department for newspaper franking to troops abroad.
Post Commander Eugene Montague returns from a National Legion event in Milwaukee where delegates from state departments discuss the year. Speakers include National Vice Commander Tom Sawyer and Everett Grantham. Montague highlights hospitalization program and plans to address emancipation day remarks.
Word from Rev. Joe Emanuel that he cannot be present Sunday. He also stated that Rev. F. R. Poage would be unable to arrive by Sunday.
Frank Weldon Jr and multiple New Mexico sportsmen groups met in Deming on October 20 to seek amending the no quail hunting order. They urge a brief season in southern regions, citing a above normal quail crop and sending the petition to State Game Warden Elliot Barker. Leo Cohen circulated the petition with wide signatures.
Mrs Peter Chase and Jane came back Wednesday after spending a week in El Paso.
